BioSafe AzaGuard - 32 oz.

AzaGuard is a 3% Azadirachtin-formulated Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) that offers broad-spectrum insecticidal control on over 300 insect species. AzaGuard prevents molting between larval, pupal, and nymphal stages, reducing insect infestations in and around the facility. AzaGuard's natural botanical formula meets all of the requirements of the National Organic Program (NOP) and is an important tool in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and sustainable disease control programs.

AzaGuard's primary active ingredient is a highly concentrated 3% Azadirachtin formulation. Azadirachtin, a chemical compound belonging to the liminoid group, is formulated through an extraction process of the neem tree, mainly from the seeds that yield the purest form of the neem extract. AzaGuard's raw neem oil extract is then put through a complex biosynthesis to create a concentrated, high-grade Azadirachtin formula that yields a higher percentage of critical limonoid components including nimbin, nimbidinin, and salannin.

AzaGuard is most commonly applied in a foliar insecticide program and can be rotated and/or tank-mixed with other synthetic and botanical insecticides. For soil applications AzaGuard can be drenched into the soil profile, as well as chemigated directly through drip irrigation systems to control various sub-terranean root herbivores. AzaGuard is labeled to be applied through high and low volume sprayers, fogging applications, aerial applicators, and chemigated through various irrigation systems.

The application rate for AzaGuard depends on the crop, pest, and pressure, and can range from 1–2.5 teaspoons (0.16–0.42 oz) per gallon to 8–21 fl oz per acre. Always follow the label for specific instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is BioSafe AzaGuard and how does it work as an insecticide?

BioSafe AzaGuard is a 3% Azadirachtin-formulated Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) derived from neem tree seeds. It works by disrupting the molting process between larval, pupal, and nymphal stages of over 300 insect species — preventing immature insects from developing into reproductive adults. Beyond IGR activity, AzaGuard also acts as a repellent, antifeedant, oviposition deterrent, and sterilant. Its multi-mode action makes it a cornerstone tool in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs for commercial greenhouses, indoor farms, and field crops. It is OMRI Listed and meets all National Organic Program (NOP) requirements.

What pests does BioSafe AzaGuard control, and is it effective against spider mites and fungus gnats?

AzaGuard controls over 300 insect species, including aphids, spider mites, fungus gnats, thrips, whiteflies, caterpillars, leafminers, mealybugs, scales, grubs, weevils, leafhoppers, and subterranean root herbivores. Yes — it is effective against both spider mites and fungus gnats, two of the most common pests in hydroponic and indoor growing environments. For fungus gnat larvae, AzaGuard can be applied as a soil drench or chemigated through drip irrigation systems to target larvae in the root zone.

Is BioSafe AzaGuard safe for organic growing, and can it be used up to the day of harvest?

Yes. AzaGuard is OMRI Listed and fully compliant with the USDA National Organic Program (NOP), making it approved for certified organic production. It is exempt from pesticide residue tolerances and may be applied to food and non-food crops up to and including the day of harvest, at a rate not exceeding 22.5 fl oz per acre per application. Its signal word is Caution, and it has a 4-hour Restricted Entry Interval (REI). When used as directed, it is not harmful to people, pets, or beneficial insects when dry.

How do you mix and apply BioSafe AzaGuard 32 oz., and can it be tank-mixed with other pesticides?

AzaGuard can be applied via foliar spray (high and low volume sprayers, foggers, aerial applicators), soil drench, or chemigation through drip irrigation systems. Mix rates range from 1–2.5 teaspoons (0.16–0.42 oz) per gallon for foliar applications to 8–21 fl oz per acre for field use — always follow the label for your specific crop and pest pressure. Spray when pests first appear and repeat at 5–7 day intervals. AzaGuard can be rotated and/or tank-mixed with synthetic and botanical insecticides; use it at the low end of the rate when combining. Use the product within 8 hours of mixing, as it will break down in solution over time. The 32 oz size is ideal for small-to-mid-scale operations, trial programs, or growers who prefer smaller batch mixing.
